What Is RAIG?
This is an immersion gold process for applying a thin layer of gold onto a substrate that you will find commonly used in the electronics industry.
In this process, we immerse the substrate in a gold-plating solution where a reducing agent facilitates the reduction of gold ions onto the surface of the substrate.
Unlike traditional immersion processes that rely on galvanic displacement, RAIG does not. Instead, it uses a reducing agent to improve the deposition rate and uniformity of the plating. This is an advantage because it helps achieve a more consistent and thicker gold layer.

Benefits and Applications
Reduction-assisted immersion gold provides enhanced uniformity, superior adhesion, improved conductivity, and corrosion resistance to the substrate and electronic component in general. Plus, it is an eco-friendly process. This is why it is particularly beneficial for:
- Printed Circuit Boards
- Semiconductor devices
- Connectors and Contacts
- Aerospace and defense electronics
These are just a few. There are many more applications of this immersion gold process.
